I’m looking for someone to housesit in our comfortable home and love and care for my 2 small dogs ages 15 and 4 and goldfish in the pond while I’m away for just over a month.
My home is a detached house built in 2011. It was originally a 5 bedroom with 4 upstairs and one downstairs. The master is 2 made into one big bedroom with an en-suite and the downstairs bedroom has been converted into a dining room. There is a family bathroom as well as the en-suite and a downstairs toilet/wash room, front and back gardens, driveway and cart lodge with space for 2 cars. A large lounge with patio doors and fireplace. Separate dining room, laundry room with washer and dryer, a large kitchen with dishwasher, all appliances, dining table and chairs and back door to the garden. We have broadband, smart tv etc. Central underfloor heating with radiators upstairs.
I have goldfish in the garden pond and two small dogs, a chihuahua cross 15 years old and a French Bulldog 4 years.
The dogs are easy. They just need to be fed, watered, let out frequently for the toilet, a short walk (although they like long ones too), and love as much fuss and attention as they can get. They can be left for a few hours without problems. Both girls are well behaved and house trained.
The fish need some food flakes sprinkled once a day and that’s it.
Other than the animals, the plants will need watering indoors and outdoor potted plants will need water. The grass usually needs cutting every 7 to ten days. Rubbish bins need to be put out once a week for collection.
I have a lady who occupys a bedroom as a lodger. She is a nurse and works very long shifts. She is very quiet and keeps herself to herself. I hardly see her and she has her own bathroom. She doesn’t use the rest of the house.
The house sitter will have use of the master bedroom with ensuite bathroom. It has views over the front and back gardens and is a very comfortable spacious room. I will leave a detailed guide to how everything works in the house and with the dogs.
The house is situated in a well connected village about a mile outside Saffron Walden so we have a mix of beautiful countryside and the ancient town of Saffron Walden with its castle ruins, voted best place to live in the country last year. Market days are on Tuesdays and Saturdays with a good selection of stalls. Lots of shops, restaurants and pubs open every day. Large common in the town centre with playground. Plenty of parking and public transport.
Easy access to buses and trains with a bus stop about 100 metres away from the house. Bus goes direct to the town centre with first stop being right outside the big Tesco main entrance.
An hour to London direct by train from Audley End station, just outside Saffron Walden. In the other direction to Cambridge which isn’t far. Buses go direct to the train station. Buses from town centre to Cambridge or Stansted Airport (half hour away).
Three large supermarkets. Tesco is nearest with Lidl a bit further down and Aldi on Thaxted road.
Saffron Walden is a historic market town with a rich history, ancient buildings and a museum. There is a tourist information centre in town where guides to activities can be found.
